Introduction
The BackRoom Poker is an on-line game program
which is to be used along with a Bulletin Board System. It is
similar to poker but the user on-line plays for odds on hands OR
with ver 2.00 can compete with another user. The better the hand
the higher the odds resulting in higher wins. Each user will be able
to bet certain amounts on each hand up to $100,000.00 with the
starting salary set by the SysOp. Users will be have an up to date
ranking shown to them so that they may see what position they are at
and to see how their earnings relate to other users. The program is
very user friendly and once you have played you can see for yourself.
NOTE: THE BACKROOM POKER REQUIRES THE USER AND YOURSELF
TO SUPPORT ANSI GRAPHICS...otherwise the program
is of no value.
The BackRoom Poker is pretty much a stand alone program.
It detects carriers and any loss of them so that you require no
other programs to run with it. There is a status bar located
at the bottom of the playing screen which the user does not see.
It states which comm port is being used and at what speed. Also,
the BackRoom Poker will automatically exit if a user hasn't touched
his/her keyboard in 5 minutes. So there is no worry on the
reliability of the program to take care of itself.
Many and mostly all precautions have been taken to ensure the safety
of this program.....
With that I still must define that:
== The creator or anyone involved in the creation of ==
== The BackRoom Poker is not responsible for any ==
== loss or damages directly or indirectly caused by ==
== the use of this program. ==
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
How to Set Up BackRoom Poker.......
To make BackRoom Poker operate you require your Bulletin Board
System software to produce a standard DORINFO1.DEF file. If you
use QuickBBS you don't have to worry but for others such as Opus
you require an external program to produce a DORINFO1.DEF file.
If you do not support ansi graphics then this program is not worth
setting up. To support ansi graphics you must have the following
in your CONFIG.SYS dos file.
DEVICE = path\ANSI.SYS
************************************************************
With Version 2.00, The BackRoom Poker is very easily set-up.
Just run SETUP.EXE in your BackRoom Poker directory and follow
the given instructions.
************************************************************
>>Step 2: Set up your bbs software to execute a batch file for
running the BackRoom Poker.
Here's an example.
----Back.bat
d:
cd\backroom
backroom.exe
cd\opus
----End
You MUST make sure that the directory which you have
BackRoom Poker in is the current DOS DIRECTORY.
If you are using the BackRoom Poker locally there is nothing
else required. If there is not carrier detected at the start
of the program it will give you a 3 second limit to press any
key forcing it to go into local mode, or if you don't press
any key then it will just exit. This is useful if the SysOp
is working directly in his/her bbs and wants to execute
backroom just like a user would.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you have done everything correctly above you can try the
program locally by typing at the DOS prompt
Backroom -L
Everything should work out fine if you have a DORINFO1.DEF file
located in the proper directory.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Available Commands while the user is on-line....
While the user is on-line your keyboard is always
on which means that whatever you press will be seen
by the user and the program except for the special keys.
Special Keys available :
F1 -- Add one minute to the users time remaining.
F2 -- Subtract one minute to the users time remaining.
F3 -- Removes Bottom Status bar for playing locally.
CTRL-X Hangs up the user immediately.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

then play 5 hands of poker and accumulated the
odds for points. The BackRoom Poker will then
save his challenge. When the challengee sees
a challenge waiting (the challengers score is
not shown) then they can either accept or
decline the challenge. If accepted then the
challengee will play 5 poker hands and see
if he/she will be able to bet the challengers
score. Winner takes all, a tie means nobody
loses.
Accept Chal -> This option will check to see if any
challenges are waiting for the user. If any
are found then the user is prompted to accept
or decline the challenger.
